I have always been surprised by the volume of double pinks listed in mid 19th century merchant ledgers. Just how many yards could you sell for little girl dresses? A female Civil War era re enactor recently was telling me how her petticoat, nicely displayed, would have been either red flannel or a double pink! Now I understand how those merchants were able to sell so many yards of double pinks!
