Chelsea Rose is a richly detailed original quilt design by Michelle Yeo, created to showcase the Dargate Treasury fabric collection designed by Margo Krager for Andover Fabrics.

The quilt has a special story rooted in both family history and textile history. Michelle Yeo drew inspiration for Chelsea Rose from a treasured tea cup and saucer from her mother-in-law’s 60-year-old dinner set, from which she was served tea on Christmas Day, 2014. The elegant floral motifs and warm vintage palette of that memorable moment inspired the quilt’s romantic center medallion and layered borders.

Designed at Margo Krager’s request to debut the newly released Dargate Treasury collection at the 2015 Spring Quilt Market in Minnesota, Chelsea Rose reflects a collaboration between two internationally respected voices in reproduction quilting and textile history.

The quilt celebrates the beauty of historic fabrics inspired by antique textile sample books. Margo’s Dargate Treasurycollection draws from authentic 19th-century printed textiles, echoing the florals, geometrics, stripes, and small-scale prints found in European dressgoods and furnishing fabrics. Michelle’s design captures the spirit of antique medallion quilts, blending traditional piecing, appliqué, and meticulous border work into a sophisticated heirloom composition.

At the heart of Chelsea Rose is an elegant floral basket appliqué surrounded by sparkling miniature pieced blocks, diamonds, stars, and richly layered borders that create movement, texture, and depth.
