Indigo has a rich and fascinating textile history. For centuries, indigo dye was one of the world’s most prized colorants, traded across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Unlike many dyes, indigo does not require a mordant on cotton. Instead, it is created through a special vat-dyeing process that produces those unforgettable deep blues. By the 19th century, indigo prints, shirtings, stripes, and small florals had become beloved staples in quilts, garments, and household textiles.
Quiltmania #149 is filled with inspiration beyond Dresden Dance! This issue includes:
- A wonderful article on Red and White quilts from the collection of Joanna Rose
- 7 quilt patterns and templates
- A Friendship Stars quilt featuring Dutch Heritage fabrics by Petra Prins
Additional projects, techniques, and beautiful photography throughout the magazine
Whether you are an indigo collector, a Dresden plate lover, or simply enjoy historically inspired quilting projects, this bundle brings together classic quilt design, beautiful blues, and timeless textile tradition.
