Dramatic Floral & Paisley Stripe
Jo Morton for Andover Fabrics

A stripe with presence!

Designed by Jo Morton for Andover Fabrics, this bold vertical stripe feels like it walked straight out of an early 19th-century furnishing textile. Deep navy grounds alternate with rich brick red and cream paisley panels, all framed with delicate dotted guard stripes. The repeating urns overflowing with flowers add that neoclassical elegance we so often see in 1820–1840 decorative prints.

The scale is generous and dramatic. Each full stripe band measures roughly 4 inches across, with large paisley medallions and florals.

The palette is especially striking: inky navy, warm brick red, soft cream, olive greens, and touches of gold and coral. It has that English roller print sophistication — structured, symmetrical, and architectural — with just enough floral softness to keep it lively.

Stripes like this were often used in early quilts for borders or cut strategically to frame blocks. It would pair beautifully with early 1830s–1845 reproductions, especially those deeper navies and warm reds.
