Step back into the early 1800s with the English Basket Quilt, Corliss Searcey’s charming interpretation of an antique English medallion quilt.

This wonderfully detailed quilt is filled with the delightful motifs we love in early appliqué quilts. Naive baskets overflowing with flowers are surrounded by borders of hexagon flowers, stars, hearts, leaves, diamonds, and other whimsical shapes, creating a quilt with something new to discover everywhere you look.

The English Basket Quilt is meant to be enjoyed rather than fussed over. The simple appliqué shapes do not require precise placement, giving you the freedom to play with fabrics, fussy cutting, color, and arrangement as you work. 

We have carefully curated a beautiful assortment of reproduction fabrics for our kit, including rich browns, reds, indigos, pinks, golds, greens, and period-inspired prints that capture the character of an early 19th-century quilt. With so many individual appliqué pieces, this is also a wonderful project for showcasing a wide variety of reproduction prints.
