Pamelia’s Path by Betsy Chutchian for Moda Fabrics is a richly layered reproduction collection inspired by the resilience and journey of a real 19th-century pioneer woman, Pamelia Dillin Fergus. Drawing from the years 1850–1880, this line reflects the textiles that would have traveled west in wagons, been worn, mended, and ultimately stitched into quilts filled with memory and meaning.
At its heart, the collection captures the quiet beauty of mid-19th century cotton prints—small-scale florals, delicate vines, classic geometrics, and timeless shirtings. These prints echo the kinds of fabrics that were both practical and precious, chosen for durability yet treasured for their subtle charm.
The color palette is deeply rooted in the Civil War era aesthetic, featuring warm madder reds, rich indigos, soft creams, earthy browns, and touches of cheddar and gold. These tones create a beautifully balanced range, ideal for building depth in traditional quilts or adding authenticity to historic-inspired projects.
