This program explores the remarkable design potential hidden inside historic printed complex stripe fabrics. Each stripe fabric creates a completely different star depending on how it is cut and arranged—offering endless design possibilities from the same basic format.

Using English Paper Piecing (EPP) for precise diamonds and dramatic fussy cutting, you will build stars that are then appliquéd by hand or machine onto a light solid background. The blocks are framed with dark sashing and finished with woven check borders for a bold, graphic setting.

This is a skill-building, history-rich program that blends traditional technique, thoughtful design, and textile scholarship.

• Dark solid for sashing & binding – 3 yards (Blue or Red)
• Woven check border fabric – 3 yards x 22" (Blue or Red Check)
•  60° Diamond acrylic template
• EPP papers (300 pieces)
• Sewline glue pen
• China marker (black)
• Tailor’s chalk
• 80–100 wt appliqué thread (gray or tan)

English Paper Piecing is recommended for precision, but machine piecing can be used if preferred.
