Core Collection Bundle (1930-1950)

1930 – 1950 Core Collection

In the early 1900s small, neat fabric designs in dark colors, black, shaker gray, navy, and dull red were popular for clothing and used in quilts. Post World War I, German chemist had to give up their newest aniline dyes formulas as part of war reparations. Soon afterwards, American textile manufacturers began offering prints in lavender, yellow, pinks, soft blues, peach, and greens. The younger women loved these new colors! The 1924 Sears catalog has mainly the dark prints on their fabric pages with just a few of the new pastels. By 1926, the fabric selection features numerous pages of the lighter fabrics with a small selection of the black, blue, gray, and reds.

Early print designs frequently had a busy background behind the small designs many with novelty motifs. Later designs became slightly larger and brighter in coloration, some with a printed 'halo' surrounding the design.

Featured prints of this bundle include Large Floral, Bias Plaid, House dress ‘drab’, mid-sized florals(2) and a novelty Solids, "That" green, Judie Rothermel Taffy Pink and Dresden Blue.

This FQ Bundle includes 25 Fat Quarters and will be curated by Margo Krager, Owner of Reproduction Fabrics and Textile historian from our wide selection of Mid 20th Century reproduction fabrics. Each bundle will include multiple essays written by Margo about the time period and several Featured FQ's of the time period.

FQs in this bundle could vary based on availability.
