These are the chunks & snippets of colorful fabrics scattered all over our cutting tables. Squares or strips in a mixture of prints, plaids, and solids. A 5 oz. packet; scrap size varies from a 3" square to a skinny fat eigth.

Post Civil War fabrics had a variety of designs that included small paisleys, stripes, and florals. Synthetic alizarin was discovered in 1869. The 1870's and 80's are called the Madder decades. Art Movements like Art Nouveau influenced fabric design.
