FQ Bundle - 8 Wood block Prints

Actual designs in each bundle may vary.

Wood block printing was one of the earliest and most enduring methods of decorating cotton textiles. Designs were carved into wooden blocks, inked with dye, and carefully pressed onto cloth by hand. Each color required its own block, and skilled printers aligned them precisely to build up the full pattern.

Blocks ranged from simple geometric or floral motifs made for everyday domestic markets to highly intricate designs created for export. The most complex patterns—often destined for international trade—could involve multiple blocks, detailed carving, and layered colors that rivaled woven fabrics in richness.

Whether modest or elaborate, wood block printing reflects both craftsmanship and commerce. It was a technology simple in concept, yet capable of extraordinary beauty, shaping textile traditions across Europe, India, and beyond.
