March has always been a month of movement.
In the 18th century, as winter ice cleared from Atlantic ports, merchant ships once again set sail from London, rounding the Cape of Good Hope toward India and the East Indies. Bales of printed cottons, indigo-dyed cloth, madder reds, and delicate florals made their way back across the ocean, eventually finding their way into American homes — and into the quilts that still inspire us today.
As we look ahead to America’s 250th in 2026, I can’t help but think about those early trade routes and the fabrics that shaped the look of 18th Century quilts. Our historically accurate bundles and fabrics from this era are curated with that same spirit in mind — small florals, refined stripes, classic shirtings, and the balanced palettes that defined early American patchwork. If you’re planning a Semiquincentennial project, this is the perfect time to begin.
And just as those ships once arrived in early spring with new goods, March is one of our most exciting arrival months of the year. We have several beautiful new collections scheduled to land soon, and I can hardly wait to share them with you.
New Fabric Lines Coming in March
Fleur de Paris is the latest line from French General in collaboration with Moda Fabrics. Step into the romantic charm of old-world France with this delicate dance of 19th-century floral prints, brought to life on a soft Pearl ground that feels like Parisian gardens in full bloom. Classic solid hues — Garance, Pale Rose, and Lavender — add just the right pop of color, offering a playful, slightly modern contrast to these timeless designs.
Heritage Garden by Emma Newman reflects Emma’s love of antique quilts and softly layered florals. This lovely new range reflects her signature style. The collection features delicate florals, botanical co-ordinates, spots and stripes in gentle colourways.
Lost Gardens of Heligan by Michelle Yeo offers rich pillar prints and borders inspired by treasured antique fabrics. Lost Gardens of Heligan by Michelle Yeo was created to celebrate her wonderful friendship with Ingrid. A few years ago, Michelle met Ingrid at a sewing group and they bonded over their shared passion for quilting, especially early 19th-century antique quilts.

Prairie Backgrounds II by Pam Buda gives us those essential, versatile neutrals that make reproduction quilts sing. A thoughtfully curated collection of soft, versatile neutrals created to be the perfect companion prints for reproduction quilts and traditional projects.
Classes and Workshops
A quick spring reminder that full details for both of our upcoming classes are available on our website.
Our six-session Hand Appliqué Series with Miki Peine begins in March and meets select Saturdays. Students will learn four hand appliqué methods — needle turn, back basting, prepared edge with appliqué paper, and freezer paper — while creating a charming four-block heart project. Starts on March 9th! We have a make up day for the class in May if you can't make one of the classes.
In May, we are honored to host Michelle Yeo for two days of exclusive workshops focused on her historically inspired techniques, Borderie Perse and Freezer Paper Foundation Piecing. Complete class descriptions, project details, and enrollment information are also available on our website.
If you’ve been thinking about joining us this spring, now is a wonderful time to reserve your seat. Visit the Classes section at ReproductionFabrics.com for all the details.
