We are delighted to share that the newest collection from French General, Fleur de Paris, is now available for pre-sale at ReproductionFabrics.com.
French General has long been known for its deep appreciation of antique French textiles, particularly those rooted in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The original printed cottons that inspired these collections were often imported into France from India before French printers began developing their own distinctive style. Over time, French workshops refined floral trails, delicate vines, small geometrics, and restrained color palettes into something unmistakably elegant — softer than English chintzes, more romantic than many early American prints, and deeply tied to the decorative arts of the period.
The 18th century was a remarkable era for printed cotton. Despite periodic bans meant to protect silk and wool industries, the popularity of printed cottons never faded. When production resumed, French printers embraced intricate woodblock techniques, layering color by hand and creating the graceful florals and scrolling designs that we still admire today. That heritage of refined color and detailed scale is what makes French General fabrics feel so authentic and timeless.
Fleur de Paris continues that tradition beautifully. Soft pearl grounds, warm garnet reds, gentle French blues, and delicate florals come together in a palette that feels both historic and fresh. These are fabrics that look at home in an 18th-century-inspired quilt, yet are perfectly suited to today’s homes.
We are offering yardage, curated 1/8th, Fat Quater and 1/2 yard bundles, and several quilt kits featuring this collection, all available for pre-order now. Pre-ordering ensures you’ll receive your favorites from this line as soon as it arrives in the shop.
If you love reproduction fabrics with true historic character and a distinctly French sensibility, Fleur de Paris is one you won’t want to miss.
We can’t wait to see what you create with it.
Warmly,
Margo and the ReproductionFabrics Team
