New in the Shop - Margo's Private Lines

One of my biggest accomplishments has been designing and creating fabric lines based on my antique fabric sample books. It’s always a thrill to see my name on the selvage while cutting fabric—proof that history and passion have come together in every design! Hint - Look for New Lines including a Center Panel coming this year, we are working on getting them printed now!

We’re excited to announce that we now have a Margo’s Private Lines section in the shop, just like on our website! Stop by and explore the exclusive fabrics inspired by authentic historic prints, brought back to life through Margo’s meticulous research and design.

There’s a lot happening at the shop this month, so let’s dive in!

New FQ Bundles + A Bit of Fat Quarter History!

Sometimes you just need the perfect color to fill a gap in your stash for that special project. We've got you covered! Our new Reproduction Fat Quarter bundles feature 6 prints plus 1 coordinating solid in time appropriate designs and colors: Double Pink, Double Violet, Shirtings, Chrome Yellow, Reds and Blues.

But have you ever wondered where Fat Quarters came from?

After WWII, quilting nearly faded away—people could now buy blankets instead! But quilting traditions held strong in pockets of Appalachia and the Heartland, especially Nebraska.

As the U.S. approached its Bicentennial, interest in quilting surged again. Women wanted to both piece and appliqué, but a traditional quarter-yard cut (9” x 44”) wasn’t always big enough for appliqué shapes like a long leaf, a flower, or a bird.

Then, an enterprising shop owner had an idea—what if we cut a ½ yard on the fold? The two pieces were still a quarter-yard in total, but now in a square (18” x 22”) instead of a long strip. And just like that, Fat Quarters were born! Now, they’re a quilting staple—perfect for stash-building and project planning.

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was a visionary architect whose influence spanned the globe. His signature Prairie School style, inspired by the treeless expanse of the Midwest, emphasized strong horizontal lines and was the American response to England’s Arts and Crafts Movement.
