Pint-Sized Neutrals: A Quilter’s Essential
Neutral fabrics are the quiet heroes of quilting—blending, softening, and adding balance to even the most vibrant designs, also called shirtings. Our new **Pint-Sized Neutrals** collection features a variety of small-scale prints in warm creams, soft taupes, and classic ivories. These subtle designs work beautifully for backgrounds, sashing, or adding a touch of vintage charm.  We have added this line to our 1865 to 1900 section.  Here's a video of Margo talking about this line!  Can you tell she's excited?

Check them out now on our website!

The Importance of Shirtings in Quilting & Historical Fabric

Shirtings feature small/medium motifs on a light background.  Used for men's shirts as well as children's clothing in mid-to-late 19th Century, they found a new niche for women's blouses. As young women got out of the house more (1870-90s) and participated in sports...sailing, golfing, tennis and bicycling....there was a need for women's sportswear.  Novelty prints were especially fun for women's blouses.

Left overs from garments made their way into the quilts of the times. Depending on your economic status...you might have purchased yardage just for your quilt project. Most our shirtings can be found in our 1865 section of our website.  We also have several shirtings bundles, a great way to build those fabric stashes with this important fabric!

Margo discusses the importance of Shirtings in quilting and historical fabrics.

Our Block of the Month called "Complex Stripe Stars" Kicks Off This Week!

We’re thrilled to announce that our **Block of the Month (BOM) program** is officially kicking off this week—with over 60 participants from around the world! It’s incredible to see so many reproduction fabric lovers coming together to stitch history, one block at a time.

A huge thank you to everyone for your support! As a small business in a niche area, we truly appreciate every order, every kind word, and every shared love for historical fabrics. Your enthusiasm keeps us going, and we’re honored to be part of your quilting journey.

My grandson prepping the paper pieces for our BOM members this AM.  Always nice to get some help on these busy days!
