PROGRAM DETAILS:
This is a 12 month program and will focus on building Star Blocks from Complex Stripe fabrics. It always is fascinating how we can achieve different looks from the same fabric based on how they are cut and arranged. We will explore Endless Design Possibilities utilizing the potential within printed complex stripes on fabric.
- Each month I will post how I cut out various diamonds from a new Complex Stripe fabric. Each month you will receive a yard of a Complex Strip to be fussy cut into diamonds for a Star ( 6 diamonds/star) and a Textile History essay.
- The Stars will be created using the English Paper Piecing technique allowing for great fussy cutting (can be machine pieced it you prefer). The Stars are then appliqued (hand or machine) onto the solid light fabric. These squares (13 1/2") are then surrounded by a dark solid ( 2") with borders of woven checks (5").
- The first month's shipment will include sewing instructions, EPP template, papers, light background fabric, sashing, 1 yard of a Complex Stripe plus a Textile History essay written by Margo. The following monthly shipments will include a new Complex Stripe plus fresh papers, border check, dark solid for sashing and binding and a new Textile History essay by Margo. We can include recommended notions you may consider as well to help you with our creations (Glue stick, 80-100 wt thread for applique, mechanical pencil, Tailors chalk, China Marker)
